The Route of Evil ...

 Hello Folks,

I left Santa Barbara early this AM motoring through Ventura and onto Ventura Highway ....

and then continued east bound on the periphery of the creeping chaos that is an extension of LA  ... the land rose from seal level to 2500 feet and the terrain quickly became desert ... the temperature rose from 18 C to 35 C in very short order ... the sun was beating down ... but it felt, even in the confines of the vehicle, as it was actually pulling the skin and the energy out of anything and everything it touched ...

The highway eventually connected with 15 North and then with 40 East .... the land started a slow rise that would peek in Arizona at 7300 feet before declining to 5000 feet at Flagstaff ... gateway to the south rim of the Grand Canyon ...

'Outlaw Country' was booming from Sirius 63 ... about 5 hours into the drive ..... it was that deja vu all over again thing ... something was familiar .. yet, it wasn't .... there was a great song playing on the radio .. 'take the highway that is the best ..I turned it up.. . 'get your kicks ... on Route 66 ....'. I should have known ... yes deja vu alright ... I was driving on parts of the old 'mother road' as I cruised on 40 East ... except I was doing it in reverse chronology to the travelogue that is the song .... in other words I I was driving anti route 66 .... and I know you have picked up on this already .... 66 .... no wonder I was on 'this' road to Memphis ... was anti route 66 ... 'Route 666' .....

I turned the radio down so I could think .... I was headed to Flagstaff ... that was the plan ... I was just at the outskirts of town when I picked up the melody of a familiar song ... '.... don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy ...' I turned it up '.... standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona ...'.  I got the message ... I kept on truckin' 90 minutes past Flagstaff to Winslow ...

But it got better ... the only vacancy in town was at ... get ready ... Motel 6 ... the room number ... you already know ... 106 ... oh, the 'watcher' is getting close ... it now seems likely that 'it' wanted me in Memphis all along ... that may have been what all the difficulty was with traveling west bound beyond Chicago ...

I am on the 'watcher's road', in the 'watcher's motel', and in the 'watchers room' .... it appears that I may have a date with destiny ...

To quote from verse 1366 of the Krome Koan,
